MediciNova Inc (MediciNova) develops products for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, asthma, acute exacerbations of asthma, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), interstitial cystitis, cancer in the US. The core product candidates of the company are MN-001 (fibrotic diseases) for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis; MN-166 (neurology diseases) for the treatment of neurological disorders; MN-221 (respiratory diseases) for the treatment of acute exacerbation of asthma. The company completed a phase II clinical trial in MN-001 patients with mild-moderate asthma. For MN-002, it completed phase II/III clinical study for the treatment of interstitial cystitis. For MN-029, the company has completed two Phase I clinical trials for the subjects of refractory cancer and advanced metastatic solid tumor cancer, respectively. MediciNova intends to enter into strategic alliances with other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies for further development and commercialization of drugs upon completion of proof of concept studies. The company relies on third parties to manufacture pharmaceutical ingredients or API, and finished investigational medicines for research, development, preclinical and clinical trials. The company entered into various collaboration agreements with companies like Kissei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, Kyorin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Angiogene Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Meiji Seika Kaisha Ltd. for the development and commercialization of its products.
